Nalen Kara Style Sheet by Skelebomb

Overview:

Nalen Abayo Kara, otherwise known as “The Warden” is a strict, confident and highly capable officer in the imperial army, charged not just with the capture and containment of high profile criminals but also in overseeing their tenure in Alysa Prison, or as it is affectionately called by the majority of its population “The Devil’s Gullet”.

Many would be content in their position as the governor/governess of the nation's largest and most well known prison, revelling in their position of power while delegating to their underlings. Nalen however, has always been somewhat of an overachiever. Even having attained such a venerable position at the age of only 28, making her the youngest to ever hold such a position, she is unable to rest on her laurels, and often takes an active role in the tracking and capture of criminal elements.

She comes from money and as such carries herself with a somewhat haughty self importance that can be grating for some. Her demeanor does not come from a place of intentional arrogance, though that is exactly how she comes across, she simply has every reason to believe that she is the smartest, strongest and most willful person in the room at any given time, because more often than not, she is.

From a young age her parents, reasonably wealthy merchants from the capital, groomed her to become a model officer in the Imperial army. It was their goal to raise a successful daughter so that she, and by proxy they, could enjoy all of the perks and advantages attributed to one of such a station. Most of her childhood was influenced by her parents decision. Her life was lessons, from literature and social etiquette to the art of war and mastery of the martial styles. It was a strict and rigid lifestyle, and this suited Nalen just fine, whether it was due to her parents influence or if it was just in her nature, it didn’t matter. This was who she was meant to be and more so who she wanted to be.

Mind:

Raised a noble, Nalen is decorum manifest - prim, proper and by the book, to the letter. She shows little flex and does not believe in compromise, some mistake her unwavering devotion to the law as cruelty, though that is not the case, she just believes wholeheartedly in the system. To Nalen there is never a good enough reason to break the law, and even if there is, you must still face the consequences, regardless of which side of the law you fall on. This outlook means she often takes on an antagonistic role and as such her attitude has developed accordingly. She is direct, stern and at times ruthless, which has earned her enemies not just among the criminal element but also within the army.

While her pride and composure are her biggest strength, once shattered she can become flustered and a lot easier, or harder depending on the situation, to deal with. Her pride has also led her to have a fairly obsessive personality. She is of course addicted to the feeling of power and control that comes with her station, not so much to corrupt her, but it is a feeling she relishes and should she lose control for any reason, she will seek to regain it with a single minded focus. Take for instance her run ins with the notorious felon “The Crimson Thorn”, more often than not the scarlet haired thief has gotten the better of The Warden, and her desire to capture her would-be rival has become a point of obsession for her.

Body:

At 6”2 Nalen strikes an imposing figure, towering over most people with a poise and elegance attributed to her upbringing, and though rather curvaceous, she has a lot of lean, functional muscle from a life time of fencing. She is physically disciplined and keeps herself in good condition, training with her sword almost every day.

She is trained in the use of various weapons, but she is without question most proficient with the saber. Her strength and grace make her truly fearsome with a sword and while she may not be as unparalleled as she thinks, she is not far off, not many could beat her in a straight duel.

While she is confident in her skill with the blade and can certainly back it up, this tends to be a curse as much as it is a gift. Nalen tends to treat most of her encounters as duels - as a personal affair, a way for her to demonstrate her superiority over her opponent. Unfortunately, most of the people she faces off against have no care for fair play and will use any underhanded tactic whether booby trap or magic to get the better of her, which happens more often than she would care to admit.
So, inspired by :iconbrokenbolt:'s profile for the dastardly Octavia Bloom, I decided to put together a little bio for my very own Nalen, using :iconeio-eio-eio:'s template.

Just to give a little insight into her character and what makes her tick, for anyone who ends up incorporating her into their own stories whether at my request or of their own volition :)

Enjoy,

Skele out.
